2016 in a Nutshell

The year 2016 is indeed a wonderful year for me. There are so
many new experiences, challenges and blessings. So I wanted to create a little
summary of what happened this year.
First quarter of the year was a breeze. We finally settled
in our new house in Cavite; get to know new neighbors, shopping malls and all
that kind of stuffs. But this is also a month when we made a big decision to
move to a new country. Jason received an awesome offer to work abroad.
We prayed for it and received God’s confirmation about it. But before that, during the holy week in
April, we host a holiday staycation for our family. They stayed with us for
three days and two nights. We just chilled out for most days and went to a
nearby resort for the much needed swimming in the summer!
Then on May 5, we moved to Japan. We stayed in Yokohama
Weekly serviced apartment first because Jason needs to attend orientation in the head
office in Yokohama. Then after a week, we moved to Hiroshima. Since we do not
have an apartment yet, the company provided a hotel for us to stay. We stayed
in Hiroshima Intelligent hotel for three weeks. At first, it was fun; feels
like we’re just having a long vacation, but staying in a hotel for that long is
a not as good as it sounds.
June 5 when we finally moved in to our new
apartment. We find the best apartment for us, price wise and location wise. Our
stuffs from the Philippines came and we finally have a new home. First thing we
do in Hiroshima is to searched for a G12 church but we learn that the church is
in Tokyo and so we search for other Christian church online. That's when we found Lifehouse
Hirosima. We attended our very first Sunday service in Lifehouse Hiroshima and
we met Lewis, Ayami and the rest of the crew. We also met some Filipinos,
Fe and Lordwill. This made our stay a little bit more comfortable. We now have
friends and a spiritual family.
July is my birthday month. We had a simple celebration; we dined out for lunch and I cooked pasta for dinner and as a gift, Jason allowed me to
have a shopping spree. Although happy, this is when nostalgia hit me. I missed
celebrating my birthday with my family. I miss them a lot.
September is Jason’s birthday month. It was on a Sunday so
this means we spending most of the time in church. I decided to give him breakfast surprise. I decorated the house to set a festivity vibe and ofcourse prepared a breakfast for us. It's my first time to do something like this for
him so I too had fun!
November was the most exciting. Not only that it is my son’s
second birthday, we also went to Singapore and met my sister there! For Jethro’s
birthday, we surprised him by decorating the house and preparing his gifts so
he could see it first thing in the morning. His happiness is priceless! Then on
second week of November, we went to Singapore. It was a two week trip. It was
actually a business trip for my husband but we toured on weekends. My sister
also went there so she can see us again. It was the happiest day of
the year I guess. Not to mention that we got to celebrate our wedding
anniversary there as well.
Finally, December. This is our first Christmas
out of the Philippines. Although it was a little bit sad because we are away
from relatives, we had a happy celebration as a family of three. While waiting
for the Christmas eve, we played Legos; it’s amazing what a two year old
mind can imagine. We ended the night with the traditional Noche Buena. On
Christmas day, we attended the Christmas service and had a party with Lifehouse
Hiroshima friends in the Hester’s house. The Hester family generously hosts the
dinner, and it was a great day for all of us. As for the end of the year, we
had a chill out night waiting for the New Year’s eve, watching Mickey Mouse
marathon and snacking. We ended 2016 and welcome 2017 with a family prayer,
holding hands and together thanking God for the great year He had given us.
